Florida FFA Hall of Fame – Nominations Open

Good Afternoon,

The Florida FFA Hall of Fame nomination form is now available! The Florida FFA Hall of Fame honors individuals who have rendered outstanding service to Agriscience Education and FFA in Florida. Nominations may be prepared and submitted by any individual. All nominations must be completed using the new online platform to be considered. Nominations not selected in the first year will be carried over for a period of two years. 

The application process can be found by visiting https://floridaffa.formstack.com/forms/ffahof. Feel free to share with those who may be interested.  

Applications must be completed by April 1, 2018 to be considered. Please contact Michael Rogalsky at Michael.Rogalsky@flaffa.org or 352.505. 5597 with any questions regarding the process.

Florida FFA Foundation Beast Feast and Future Farmer Classic

The Florida FFA Foundation is preparing for the 15th Annual Beast Feast and 2nd Annual Future Farmer Classic 50 Bird Charity Sporting Clay Shoot. Both events are scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018. As a special note, for those who participate in the Future Farmer Classic Shoot, they will receive complimentary admission into the Beast Feast! I am hoping to have some FFA Alumni Team and FFA Member Teams compete in the shoot! 

I have attached the promotional flyer for this event and will be happy to send copies of the event flyer as well as poster size flyers if you would like them to help us promote!

Also, is your chapter willing to help us sell admission and raffle tickets? If so, please contact michael.rogalsky@flaffa.org and I will send tickets to you right away!! A special prize will be awarded to each chapter who sells the most tickets!

2018 Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award – Middle School Agriculture Teachers

ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOL AGRICULTURE TEACHERS

Florida Agriculture in the Classroom is pleased to share with you the 2018 Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Awards. Are you a Florida teacher who uses agriculture to teach your state standards? If so, you are eligible for Florida Agriculture in the Classroom’s Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award. Winners win a trip to the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Portland, ME, June 26-29, 2018. There are 4 categories, elementary school, middle school, high school and middle school agriscience, from there we will pick one overall winner.  The overall winner will receive a $500 honorarium and the other winners will receive $250. Deadline to apply has been extended to November 17, 2017. FFA Chapter Contest Grants – American Egg Board

The Florida Poultry Federation in conjunction with the American Egg Board wants to know what makes your FFA Chapter Incredible! Is it your community outreach, your passion for agriculture, your members? Tell them what makes your chapter stand out for a chance to win one of three grants (one $2,000 grant and two $1,500 grants) for your chapter to use to continue its incredible work. From helping fund an agricultural experience or funding programs for leadership development, America’s Egg Farmers want to celebrate all that makes FFA great.

TEN FOR TEN GIVING PROGRAM

It was great sharing with you the work of the Florida FFA Foundation over the past year at the Florida FFA Chapter President’s Conference last weekend. As I shared with you, we have created a special giving program just for Florida’s Agriculture Teachers. 

The Ten for Ten Giving Program is for Florida’s Agriculture Education Teachers to commit to giving $10 per month for 10 months for a total yearly contribution of $100. Donations begin in August and run through May. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds will benefit the special projects of the Florida FFA Foundation and will directly benefit students. 

A special THANK YOU to the educators who have already signed up to be a part of this program. We appreciate your dedication to helping the next generation!

National Competition Travel Stipend

Good Morning,

The Florida FFA Foundation wishes to congratulate the State Winning Career and Leadership Development Event Students, Agriscience Fair Finalists, Proficiency Award Finalists, Outstanding Middle School Finalists and Models of Innovation Finalists who will be representing Florida in the National Competition in October.
