GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida FFA Association selected four student members as finalists for the highly coveted State Star in Agricultural Placement, within the “Stars of Florida” award recognition program. This program symbolizes the highest competitive recognition for FFA members and their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program(s). Finalist shared their SAE’s virtually and a winner was named.

The Florida FFA Association is pleased to announce the 2020 State Star in Agricultural Placement is:

Aubrey Pearce, Okeechobee Brahman

Aubrey Pearce’s Beef Placement SAE sprouted from her interest in animal production agriculture. Since before she zipped up the blue jacket, she has helped work cattle at family ranches. Pearce says, “My father, has been the driving force behind my placement SAE. He has always taken me to work and taught me how to safely handle cattle, build fence, drive a tractor, and market cattle.” In 2018, she increased her capabilities through my Beef Quality Assurance certification training. She learned proper vaccination, castration, branding, general processing and record keeping techniques that she has been able to implement on the ranches, as she is the only BQA certified employee. She has recently been promoted from a ranch hand to the BQA manager of Pearce Cattle Company, to oversee safe cattle handling and animal welfare. Pearce says, “The valuable skills that I have acquired over the past decade are the foundation of my future agricultural goals of owning a large-scale beef cattle operation.” She is a member of the Okeechobee Brahman FFA Chapter and her advisors are Jared Prescott, Clinton Thompson and Brian Dryden. Congratulations Aubrey on being named the 2020 State Star in Agricultural Placement!
