Florida FFA is please to announce the results of the 2012 State Food Science and Technology Career Development Event (CDE). The event was held on December 1, 2012 at the University of Florida. 27 high school and 15 middle school teams competed for the state championship to be awarded at the annual Florida FFA State Convention in June.
Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of event coordinators Dr. Renée Goodrich Schneider and Dr. Keith Schneider of the UF/IFAS Food Science and Human Nutrition Department. Florida FFA would also like to thank the volunteers from the Food Science and Human Nutrition and the Agricultural Education and Communication departments for assisting with this year’s event.
First place in the middle school division was the Lake Butler Middle School FFA Chapter, from Lake Butler, Florida. Team members included Kasey Rhodes, Lane Griffin, Maggie Parrish, and Taylor Pate. The advisor is Brittney McGee.
In the high school division, the first place team was the Baker County Senior FFA Chapter, from Macclenny, Florida. Team members included Bethany Richardson, Garett Stavely, Hunter Burnsed, and Jesse Lambright. The advisor is Cacee Ford.
As a matter of procedure, event results are considered unofficial for (2) business days following publishing. It is the responsibility of the FFA Advisor to request and review individual team results. Any appeal must be made to the FFA Executive Secretary in writing for necessary adjustments to be made. At the close of business on the second business day following publishing, results will be official.
