CDE Results – 2012 State Poultry CDE

Florida FFA is pleased to announce the results of the Poultry (CDE).  The event was held April 14, 2012 at the University of Florida Meats Laboratory. 50 teams from throughout Florida gathered to compete for the top spot. The purpose of the Poultry CDE is to stimulate learning related to the production, processing, marketing and consumption of poultry products. Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of our event coordinator Dr. Ben Mather, Mr. David Eberst, and Jean Kaufman.

As a matter of procedure, event results are considered unofficial for (2) business days following publishing. It is the responsibility of the FFA Advisor to request and review individual team results. Any appeal must be made to the FFA Executive Secretary in writing for necessary adjustments to be made.  At the close of business on the second business day following publishing, results will be official.

CDE Results – 2012 Land Judging

Florida FFA is pleased to announce the results of the 2012 State Land Judging Career Development Event (CDE).  The event was held March 30, 2012 in Marion County. 18 high school and 13 middle school teams from throughout Florida gathered to compete for the top spot.  The Land Judging Career Development Event is designed to stimulate learning activities related to soils and their best use.

Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of our event coordinator Dr. Rex Ellis and Mr. Greg Means of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District for hosting this year’s event.

As a matter of procedure, event results are considered unofficial for (2) business days following publishing. 2012-13 State Officer Candidate Announcement

Thirteen FFA Members Slated To Seek State Officer Positions In June

HAINES CITY, Fla. – The 2012 State Officer Screening Committee slated the following student members as candidates for state office. Forty student members took part in the 2012 Screening Process. These student members were challenged with an individual interview, written exam, individual problem solving activity, group problem solving activity, SAE interview, Agricultural Education Interview, and conversational exercise. The selected candidates will seek election at the 84th Florida FFA State Convention.

Florida FFA is pleased to announce the results of the 2012 Nursery and Landscape Career Development Event (CDE).  The event was held March 17, 2012 at the Pinellas Technical Education Center in St. Petersburg. 19 high school and six middle school teams from throughout Florida gathered to compete for the top spot. The purpose of the Nursery and Landscape CDE CDE is to stimulate interest in learning activities related to nursery practices and landscaping including the identification of plants, insects and diseases. Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of our event coordinator Merry Mott of the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) as well as the Pinellas Chapter of FNGLA and Pinellas Technical Education Center (pTEC).

The qualifying events were held February 11, 2012 in Tampa at the Florida State Fair and February 24, 2012 in Washington County. 94 teams from throughout Florida gathered to compete for a transfer spot into the state finals. The purpose of the Livestock Evaluation CDE is to stimulate learning activities related to the production and marketing of cattle, sheep and swine. Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of our event coordinator Dr. Chad Carr, the University of Florida Animal Sciences Department, the Florida State Fair and the Washington County Fair.

As a matter of procedure, event results are considered unofficial for (2) business days following publishing. Florida FFA is pleased to announce the results of the 2012 Dairy Evaluation Career Development Events (CDE).  The event was held February 19, 2012 at the Florida State Fair in Tampa. 18 high school teams and 10 middle school teams from throughout Florida gathered to compete for the top spot in each division. The purpose of the Dairy Evaluation CDE is to provide a competitive event for agricultural education students, emphasizing skills in dairy cattle evaluation, selection and herd management. Florida FFA is very appreciative of the support of our event coordinator UF/IFAS Dairy Extension agent Chris Holcomb and the Florida State Fair.
